A brilliant through ball for Oman and this time, Muhsen Al Ghassani made no mistake as Oman lead 1-0 against India. A complete lapse in concentration and Ghassani was able to finish the move calmly.
The Oman midfielder was looking to counter fast but a strong challenge from Adil Khan and he received the first yellow card of the match. India are looking much better at the moment and all credit goes to Brandon Fernandes.
Chance for India
A good delivery from a Brandon Fernandes free-kick but Sunil Chhetri’s pass was too weak and the Oman goalkeeper was able to collect it quite easily. First chance for India but the match remains goalless.
Long Range effort
A long range effort from Mohammed Al Ghafri but the ball was nowhere near the goal and no issues for Gurpreet Singh Sandhu. It has been all Oman till now with India still looking to find their footing.
What a miss!
What a miss! The penalty from Muhsen Al Ghassani went sailing over the goal and this is a huge reprieve for India! They will have to take advantage while Oman look to regroup.
Penalty against India
Pressure created by Afghanistan and Rahul Bheke ended up conceding a penalty! This is not the start that India would have wanted!
The match begins and India will be looking to start on a positive note. The major problem for Sunil Chhetri & Co in their previous matches was the defensive approach during the first few minutes and they will surely be looking to change it tonight.
World Cup qualifier
This is also a joint qualifying round for the 2023 Asian Cup and the third-placed teams and the best four fourth placed teams from the eight groups automatically get a place in the third round of the qualifiers of Asia’s biggest nations meet.
If India get a point from this game, it may be helpful in their bid to get an automatic third round berth for the 2023 Asian Cup qualifiers. India have not won a single match in this campaign yet.
India are fourth in the Group E table with three points while Oman are second with nine points from four matches. Qatar are on top with 10 points from four outings.
