Mumbai: Zee Entertainment Enterprises (ZEE) has committed to offer a financial relief to over 5,000 daily wage earners, working directly or indirectly for the company in its overall production ecosystem.

As a step to ensure that the families of daily wage earners do not get impacted during the on-going challenging phase, the company will pay all the wages these workers.

Further, ZEE has decided to match the voluntary contributions made by the employees to the PM Cares fund through an internal portal with equal amount.

The company will also leverage the strength of its media network across the nation and world at large, to encourage people to contribute to the fund to fight the Covid19 outbreak.

“We stand committed to financially support all the daily wage earners working in our production ecosystem. We firmly believe in the extraordinary power of coming together and fighting against a situation. In these challenging times, it is extremely critical for India Inc to come together and support the National level initiative undertaken by our Prime Minister Narendra Modi,” said Punit Goenka, MD & CEO, ZEE.

He added that apart from the financial support, the company will also contribute in creating nationwide awareness about the noble initiative.

In order to keep its viewers informed and sensitised about the safety and precautionary measures, ZEE had earlier implemented an initiative, #BreakTheCoronaOutbreak, under which content across 40+ channels was paused for a 30 second break throughout the day, encouraging viewers to wash their hands.
