Pune: IT services provider Tech Mahindra said it would shut all offices, and most critical services would be managed by employees from home.

Most Tech Mahindra employees had started working from home in view of the Covid-19 outbreak and the consequent nationwide lockdown, but staff supporting critical and essential services had to be present in its offices.

“The wellbeing and safety of our associates and partner ecosystem is our biggest priority. In accordance with the government’s order and guidelines, we have decided to shut all our office spaces, even most of our essential and critical services are being managed from home,” said Harshvendra Soin, Chief People Officer of Tech Mahindra.

Some Tech Mahindra employees had to report to work on Sunday, the day of the Janata curfew announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The company said this was because some of its businesses come under essential services.

Soin said Tech Mahindra was working to ensure that the transition to work from home would be smooth.

“We are working in parallel with the backend IT and security teams to ensure smooth transition. We are constantly monitoring the situation to ensure that our associates feel safe, secure and motivated at all time,” he said.
