NEW DELHI: Developers are racing to complete the tallest residential building in the Delhi-National Capital Region, which will have four skyscrapers measuring more than 190 metres by 2025. The region is witnessing demand for flats overlooking the entire city, developers say.

Gurgaon-based Raheja Group is the latest to join the race with its 190-metre tall residential tower where Leela Hotels will be the service provider. The uber-luxury project, The Leela Sky Villas, is being developed in Patel Nagar and will have 42 floors. It is expected to be tallest residential building in central Delhi, more than double the height of the Qutub Minar.

“A lot of policies were modified to make way for the high-rises that can accommodate an increased number of people. A lot of developers and engineers saw it as an opportunity to innovate and explore designs that attract many eyeballs,” said Nayan Raheja, Executive Director, Raheja Group.

“Tall buildings are a way to properly allocate resources and helps in the best utilisation of available space,” he added.

In Gurgaon, Trump Towers is competing with another Raheja project, while Supertech is racing towards completion of its 300-metre Supernova building in Noida.

Gurgaon-based M3M, which is constructing Trump Towers, is competing with the Raheja Group for the tallest building tag within the city, as both are close to 200 metres in height. “Skyscrapers have redefined the skyline of Gurgaon, and they exemplify luxury and stature. We wanted to offer our customers a global statement of magnificent luxury, therefore, we decided to bring Trump brand into North India that is also among the tallest buildings in NCR,” said Pankaj Bansal, Director, M3M Group.

M3M’s strategy to offer signature luxury with skyline views in Gurgaon was accomplished in the first phase of development of the M3M Golfestate in Sector 65, he added.
