What just happened? Nothing has announced the CMF Phone 2 Pro, an affordable successor to last year’s CMF Phone 1. It features a colorful new design and several upgrades. The company also introduced three new earbuds – CMF Buds 2a, Buds 2, and Buds 2 Plus – priced at $49, $59, and $69.
The CMF Phone 2 Pro features a 6.77-inch Full-HD+ (1,080 × 2,392) AMOLED display with a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate, 3,000 nits peak brightness, and HDR10+ support. It also includes 2160Hz PWM dimming, a 480Hz touch sampling rate, 387ppi pixel density, and Panda Glass protection.
The device runs on a MediaTek Dimensity 7300 Pro chip with 8GB of RAM. Nothing says the new processor delivers 10 percent faster CPU and 5 percent faster GPU performance over last year’s model. It will launch globally in 128GB and 256GB storage options, though US retailers will only carry the 256GB variant. Storage is expandable by up to 2TB via microSD.
The CMF Phone 2 Pro features a triple rear-camera setup, led by a 50MP 1/1.57-inch primary sensor with an f/1.88 lens and electronic image stabilization. It also includes a 50MP telephoto camera with an f/1.88 aperture, 2x optical zoom, and up to 20x digital zoom, alongside an 8MP ultra-wide lens with an f/2.2 aperture and a 119.5-degree field of view. A 16MP front-facing camera with an f/2.45 lens handles selfies.
The device has a 5,000mAh power pack, with 33W fast charging and 5W reverse wired charging. Nothing says it can deliver up to 47 hours of voice calls or 22 hours of YouTube streaming on a single charge. Connectivity options include 5G, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.3, and USB Type-C. The phone also features an optical in-display fingerprint scanner for biometric authentication.
The Phone 2 Pro runs Nothing OS 3.2, based on Android 15, with promises of three years of updates and six years of security patches. It also carries an IP54 rating for dust and splash resistance. The trademarked Essential Key on the right edge allows quick access to Nothing’s AI-powered Essential Space.
The CMF Phone 2 Pro costs $279 for the 256GB model in the US and is available through the company’s US beta program. While it looks like a great deal on paper, US buyers should note that, like previous Nothing phones, it lacks 5G support for AT&T users. Verizon and T-Mobile subscribers may also face spotty 5G connectivity due to limited compatibility with key US 5G bands.
