IndiGo’s CEO Ronojoy Dutta said that the airline will deep clean its aircraft, not serve meals for some time. He also added that only 50 per cent of the seats in airport buses will be filled.
“We have always been very safety conscious and now we must be health conscious as well. With this in mind, we are looking at changing many of our operating procedures. The new set of procedures have not been finalized yet. But we will deep clean our aircraft more frequently, we will be discontinue meal service for a brief period and we will run our coaches at a maximum load of 50% capacity. We will be coming out with the new set of operating procedures very soon,” Dutta said in an email to employees on Friday.
It is not yet clear as to when the national lockdown will be lifted. A decision is likely after Prime Minister Narendra Modi meets chief ministers of all states tomorrow via video conferencing.
Earlier, Indigo’s CEO had announced pay cuts for employees including himself owing to severe cash flow problem as the aviation industry came to a grinding halt due to the coronavirus crisis.
