India Inc raises nearly Rs 52,000 crore on BSE Bond platform during lockdown


New Delhi: A total of 45 companies have raised Rs 51,989 crore on the BSE Bond Platform during the ongoing lockdown that began on March 23. Out of the total mobilisation, 27 firms issued commercial papers worth Rs 26,666 crore, while other companies issued medium and long-term bonds worth 25,323 crore.

Out of these 27 companies issuing commercial papers, 21 were private sector companies. In case of medium and long-term bonds, 15 private sector companies raised money through the BSE Bond Platform.

The platform allows corporates to remotely set up their issues and open for subscription seamlessly. Investors are able to give their bids online and an automated settlement takes place through the Indian Clearing Corporation (ICCL).

For the financial year 2019-20, the platform garnered fundraising for commercial papers worth Rs 4,33,480 crore by 116 issuers and for bonds amounting to Rs 3,36,670 crore by 121 issuers. In FY19 and FY18, bonds worth Rs 3,10,939 crore and Rs 2,03,932 crore were raised by 124 and 78 issuers, respectively.
