Hyundai ties up with Air Liquide to scale up production and supply of ventilators

[ad_1]

Hyundai has entered into a partnership with Air Liquide Medical Systems to scale up production of ventilators at the latter’s facility in Chennai amid the outbreak of coronavirus pandemic in the country.

Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) will leverage its supply chain partners to source critical components for manufacturing ventilators. The company will also help Air Liquide to augment production of ventilators from a few hundred units now to 1000 units per month in the next 30 days. Production will be ramped up further in coming months.

G S Mani, director (production) at HMIL told ET, “The ventilators have been designed by Air Liquide and are being manufactured at their facility. We will help them with our expertise to speed up sourcing of critical components and to augment manufacturing capacity given the requirements in the current environment.”

The Indian government had last month requested the country’s leading automakers to explore possibilities of manufacturing ventilators to help support the fight against COVID-19.
