‘Desk officer sitting on our orders’: SC summons telecom bosses over dues – india news

The Supreme on Friday came down hard on telecom companies for not paying dues worth thousands of crores to the government and summoned their top bosses to explain why the court’s order to pay up was not followed.

The government too faced criticism for not doing enough to implement the order and collect the dues.

“A desk officer is sitting in appeal over our orders”, says Justice Arun Mishra.

The court also threatened contempt action against government officials and telecom companies for non compliance with its 2019 judgment.

“What is happening in this country? This is complete nonsense. We had already said what we have to”, Justice Arun Mishra remarked during the hearing of plea.
