Aura: Hyundai launches sedan Aura, prices start at Rs 5.79 lakh

New Delhi: Korean auto major Hyundai Tuesday globally launched entry sedan Aura in the national capital priced upwards of Rs 5,79,900 (ex-showroom, India).

The Aura comes with three BSVI-compliant engine options – 1.2 litre Ecotorq diesel engine, 1.2 litre MPI petrol engine and Kappa 1 litre Turbo GDI petrol engine – and is available both in manual and automatic transmission versions.

While the petrol variants are tagged between Rs 5.79-8.54 lakh, the diesel variants are priced between Rs 7.73-9.22 lakh. The CNG variant is priced at Rs 7.28 lakh. All prices are ex-showroom, India.

Hyundai Aura will compete with the likes of Maruti Suzuki DZire. The compact sedan segment currently contributes as much as 74% to sedan sales in the country. Hyundai aims at strengthening its presence in the category with the launch of the new car. The company already has the Hyundai Verna in the midsize sedan segment and Elantra at the upper end of the spectrum.

HMIL Managing Director S S Kim, said, “The all new Aura will be India’s only sedan equipped with BS VI diesel 1.2 litre Ecotorq engine…The all new Aura will be a game changer product creating new excitement and establish new benchmarks in the automobile industry.”

Hyundai will commence deliveries of the Aura immediately.
