'Exposed': Amit Shah Tweets Video To Attack Arvind Kejriwal Over Schools

Amit Shah shared a clip in which BJP MPs highlight poor infrastructure of government schools.

New Delhi:

Union Home Minister Amit Shah today tore into Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, alleging that his Aam Aadmi Party government’s claims of an “education revolution” in the national capital have been “exposed” after a visit by BJP MPs to government-run schools in the city.

Sharing a four-minute-long video on Twitter, the Home Minister wrote, “Arvind Kejriwal ji, you had called me to visit the schools run by the Delhi government. Yesterday, eight MPs of Delhi had toured different schools and showed the conditions. The ground situation has exposed the claims of ‘revolution in education’. Now you have to give an answer to the public of Delhi.”

The video shows eight BJP parliamentarians from Delhi – Dr Harsh Vardhan, Vijay Goel, Parvesh Sahib Singh, Meenakshi Lekhi, Gautam Gambhir, Hansraj Hans, Manoj Tiwari and Ramesh Bidhuri – taking a tour of some government-run schools in Delhi and highlighting the lack of teachers, water and toilet facilities.

In response to the video, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and his deputy Manish Sisodia called the report “fraud”.

Showing the video of the same schools where the MPs visited, the two said the BJP MPs are hiding the complete picture.

They blamed MP Gautam Gambhir of showing a building which is non-functional and is closed for renovation since October 2019. They then said that MP Parvesh Verma showed the old building ensuring the new building was not visible.

“We brought a revolution in the education sector that people across the globe are talking about us. I felt very sad when Amit Shah raised questions on the Delhi education model and make fun of students,” said Mr Kejriwal.

Mr Kejriwal said the Home Minister hates the AAP. “You hate Kejriwal and Sisodia. Do not insult our teachers, their students. Do not hate so much the city and its people.”

He expressed happiness that Delhi has more than 1,000 schools, but Mr Shah and his MPs found only eight schools with issues.

Busting Gautam Gambhir’s claims of poor facilities in school, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia took a swipe at him and said, “Gautam Gambhir showed a school where renovation is going on. Maybe he was busy eating jalebis that he could not see the notice on the main gate.”

He also tweeted the picture of the notice.

Mr Sisodia also tweeted “real” pictures of the school where MP Hans Raj Hans went.

“The MP went inside the common activity room and claimed there were no desks. He forgot that it was a multi-purpose hall where students perform yoga or dance and so the room has only carpet or desk,” Mr Sisodia said. He also blamed the MP of entering the hall with his shoes on and spoiling the floor.

The voting for Delhi Assembly elections will take place on February 8. The counting of votes will take place on February 11.

In 2015 assembly polls, the Aam Aadmi Party created history by getting a landslide victory and winning 67 of a total of 70 seats in the national capital.
