“…. we shave duly paid an amount of Rs 9500 crore on behalf of Bharti Airtel ( including in respect to Telenor India which was merged with Bharti Airtel ) and an amount of Rs 500 crore on behalf of Bharti Hexacomm…”, said the telco in a regulatory statement on Monday .
Airtel stock up 0.4% at Rs567.30 in early trade on the BSE
The telco added that it is completing its self assessment “expeditiously” and will pay before the next hearing of Supreme Court -which so far has been listed for March 17.
The telecom department had claimed Airtel has AGR dues of Rs 35,000 crore . So far only Reliance Jio has paid its AGR dues of Rs 195 crore.
ET reported that the self assessment dues may be much lower than what the government has estimated .
